Stones around knee joint

Abstract

A 56 yrs old female consulted orthopedic OPD with complaints of pain, swelling and frequent locking of the knee joint with grating sounds. There was no history of trauma. She was postmenopausal since last three years. On examination hard masses were palpable on posterior aspect of the knee and in supra patellar area. On radiological examination, multiple loose bodies were found around the knee joint along with grade-III osteoarthritis (Figures 1 & 2). On loose bodies were found around the knee joint along with grade-III osteoarthritis (Figures 1 & 2). On correlation of clinical picture and radiological findings diagnosis was confirmed to be ‘synovial chondromatosis’.1
