Dr Gohar Dar
Dr. Gohar Dar (April 19, 1965 – April 26, 2025), a respected Cardiac Anesthesiologist at the Cleveland Clinic, passed away on April 26, 2025. He left behind a profound legacy of excellence, compassion, and quiet leadership. Born in Jhelum, Pakistan, Dr. Dar earned his medical degree from Ayub Medical College and trained at Holy Family Hospital before moving to the U.S., where he completed his residency at the University of Miami and fellowships in critical care and cardiothoracic anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic. He joined the Clinic in 2003 and served for over 25 years, caring for critically ill patients and mentoring generations of physicians. He founded the Cleveland Clinic’s Cardiac Anesthesia Fellowship, a program he continued to nurture during his illness.
Dr. Dar was a man of deep faith, humility, and generosity. He was beloved by colleagues, friends, and his community for his wisdom, warmth, and quiet acts of service.
He is survived by his wife, Farah, and their children—Nayab, Manal, and Rayan—who were the center of his life and pride.
May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus and bring peace to all who mourn him. All members of the editorial board of Anaesthesia, Pain & Intensive Care as well as APPNA stand with the Dar family during this difficult time.
